Written by: Megan The Fantastic Four is a 1994 American superhero film based on Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four comics. It is the first of a number of live-action adaptations of the comic book characters to reach the screen, and it comprehensively established that a movie can have more than one interpretation of its superheroes. The film stars Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Julian McMahon as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/Thing respectively. The Thing's voice was provided by American animator Phil Proctor. The Fantastic Four earned positive reviews from critics, who praised the performances of its cast and the film's animation, especially for its depiction of Thing. The character designs were greeted less positively, but they have since been acknowledged as being iconic. The film's sequel, "The Fantastic Four" (2005), picks up two decades later with the team at their own scientific-research company, known as Psi-Tech. The sequel, which was not well received by critics, features the return of Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom, who seeks revenge for his defeat in the previous film. The third film, "The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" (2007), follows the further adventures of the titular superhero team. Both sequels were met with generally negative reviews from critics and fans alike. Following a space mission gone awry, Reed Richards is exposed to cosmic radiation and mutated into a super-human along with his colleagues: physician and astronaut Dr. Victor Von Doom; Von Doom's younger sister and pilot Sara; and astrophysicist and technician Benjamin J. Grimm. Together, the four battle various supervillains and attempt to regain control of their powers and lives. The Fantastic Four (voiced by Julian McMahon), a superhero team based in New York City, is hired by industrialist Simon Williams (Robert Loggia) to investigate his concerns that the Baxter Building's top-secret experimental teleportation system performed too well without human intervention. The teleportation technology was destroyed by Dr. Victor von Doom (voiced by Julian McMahon), who hired the Fantastic Four to bring him back into custody after he escaped from jail. The group enters the building and meet Dr. Franklin Storm (Hugh Jackman), who offers Richards, Storm and Storm's children Franklin and Valeria (played by Daniel Cudmore and Kate Mara) a job as scientists at his company. The team discovers that Doom has secretly reactivated his teleportation technology and stolen the super-soldier serum from the nation's Strategic Hazard Intervention, all-risk department to recreate a serum capable of turning him back into human form. Realizing that the process is capable of accidentally turning them into superhumans as well, they decide to stay together as a team. 8eeb4e9f32 32
